Besan Kaju is a classic Indian roasted snack built around one simple idea: take a premium whole cashew and make it better. Each cashew is coated in a seasoned gram flour (besan) mixture, slow roasted until the coating develops a firm, crunchy shell, and finished with a blend of spices that adds warmth and depth without overpowering the natural richness of the nut underneath.
At Dadu's, we have been making Besan Kaju since 1983 using the same recipe that made it a fixture in Hyderabadi homes and gift hampers. The quality of the snack starts with the cashew itself. We use whole, Grade A cashews with no broken pieces or undersized nuts. The besan coating is freshly prepared and applied by hand before each batch goes into the roaster. What you receive is a snack that is genuinely better than anything in a supermarket aisle.

What Makes Dadu's Besan Kaju Different

Grade A Whole Cashews
We do not use cashew splits, broken pieces, or undersized nuts. Every piece in a pack of Dadu's Besan Kaju starts with a whole, Grade A cashew. This matters because the size and integrity of the nut determines how evenly it roasts and how well the coating adheres.

Freshly Prepared Besan Coating
The gram flour coating is mixed fresh before each batch. It is seasoned with a blend of spices including cumin, black pepper, and dried herbs, then applied to the cashews by hand before roasting. The coating bonds to the nut during roasting and develops a satisfying crunch that holds even after the pack has been opened for a day or two.

Slow Roasted, Not Deep Fried
Dadu's Besan Kaju is roasted, not deep fried. This keeps the snack lighter on the palate, extends its natural shelf life, and allows the flavour of the cashew to come through rather than being masked by frying oil.

No Artificial Colours or Preservatives
The orange-gold colour of the besan coating comes from the spices in the mixture, not from artificial food dye. We use no synthetic colours, artificial flavours, or chemical preservatives. The shelf life comes from proper roasting and airtight packaging.

Shelf Life and Storage
